'Frequently Asked Questions'
Who made all this?
All of the documents in this page are written by Charles Bradbury, a.k.a 'Raccoon Sam' and are based on either his own, someone else's, or already-known-but-undocumented discoveries.
What's the point of these documents?
If you love SML2 as much as I do, you've completed it a million times and start to understand that there is simply no content in the game for you anymore. These documents are to help you redesign or modify the game so you can bring that new content to the game.
How do I do that then?
Grab a HEX Editor from RHDN and get crackin'!
But I need a ROM. Where can I get one?
Well, that's the pickle here. You see, the possession and distribution of Nintendo Game Boy cartridge ROM images is widely forbidden by the iron fist of law. Since it's the twenty-first century and Piracy makes you cool and edgy, the aforesaid files can be obtained from the internet by ridiculously easy means. That does still not mean that I will provide you any links to them ;)
Such small changes require quite an effort.. Can't this be automated?
Yes. You probably know what a Computer Application is. Well, people who are skillful and determined enough to write their own applications may use those skills to create applications that ease the process heavily, and do most of the work for you. A fine example is MarCas, a Super Mario Land 2 level editor, written in Visual Basic by Cooltoby, who also happens to be the very man who inspired me to start this website and gave me assloads of information on SML2 and how it works. You're a life saver..!
Hey, I can code in Java/C/Python/... and I like SML2!
That's great! Be sure to inform me of your project as I'd be more than delighted to be of an assistance and be involved in a SML2-related project.
I need/want to contact you.
I can be contacted in many ways, the primary ones being AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger and E-Mail. I have listed them below in order;
~Raccoon Sam C
~RaccoonSam@hotmail.com
~RaccoonSam@hotmail.com
I will not provide you any ROM images through these methods.
Man, HEX, ROM, ASM, BYOB, this is ever so confusing!
As mentioned above, be sure to contact me if you hit any problems or are unsure of how to work around. I'm always up for help.
